A man has been banned from driving for three years following a police pursuit in Barton.
Mark Scaife, 35, of River View, Barton-upon-Humber, appeared at court in Grimsby where he was handed a 36-month driving ban, a community order and fine following an incident last year.
On Saturday, October 19, officers were in the area of River View when they identified a vehicle being driven suspiciously. Upon attending, they requested that Scaife pull over, but he failed to comply and did not stop.
As a result, a short pursuit ensued before Scaife’s vehicle was stopped nearby. He was arrested at the scene on suspicion of driving whilst unfit through drink, theft of a motor vehicle and using threatening behaviour. He was later charged with failing to stop and failing to provide a sample for analysis.
PC Alex Bower, leading the investigation, said: “It remains a priority to keep our roads safe, not only during the festive season when the risk of drink and drug driving increases, but all year round.
“If you suspect someone is driving under the influence of drink or drugs and it’s happening now, call 999 immediately.”
