A man has been hospitalised following a huge crash involving multiple vehicles. The A13 was completely gridlocked this morning (January 10) after an incident between a van and multiple cars was reported.
The incident was impacting traffic heading eastbound, causing long delays. The incident occurred between Ferry Lane Interchange, Rainham, to A1306 Wennington Interchange, Wennington.
As a result, there was congestion to Marsh Way at Dagenham. The incident was first reported at 6.52am, and it has been said that a van and several cars were involved, with witnesses reporting seeing a six car pile up with two having the roof cut off.

It has now been confirmed that one mas was hospitalised following the crash. A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called at 7.09am this morning (Friday January 10) to reports of a road traffic collision in New Road, Rainham.
“We sent a number of resources to the scene, including an ambulance crew, paramedics in fast response cars, members of our Hazardous Area Response Team (HART) and an incident response officer. Our crews treated a man at the scene, before taking him to hospital.”
A Metropolitan Police spokesperson added: “Police were called at approximately 06:35hrs on Friday, January 10 to reports of a number of vehicles involved in a collision on the A13 between Ferry Lane and the Wennington Interchange. The eastbound carriageway has been closed while the scene is dealt with. No reports of any serious injuries. Enquiries into the circumstances continue.”
