Man’s body found in North Yorkshire floodwater as police launch appeal to identify him

A man’s body has been recovered from floodwater in a North Yorkshire village, prompting a public appeal for help in identifying him.

The discovery was made near Intake Lane in Beal, close to Eggborough and Knottingley, on Monday, January 6. North Yorkshire Police are now appealing for help to identify the man.

The deceased is described as a white male, aged between his early 50s and 60s, with short, light brown hair and stubble. He was found wearing brown walking boots, blue denim jeans, a brown belt, and a multicoloured, zipped, hooded jumper.

It is also possible that he wore a dark green waterproof coat. Authorities believe he may have entered the water within the last 24 to 48 hours, reports Yorkshire Live..

A police spokesperson said: “Earlier today, the body of a man was recovered from an area of flooding near Intake Lane in Beal, close to Eggborough and Knottingley. Despite extensive enquiries, including with our colleagues in Humberside and West Yorkshire Police, we have been unable to identify him. He was found without any identification or personal belongings. We believe he may have entered the water within the last 24 to 48 hours.
