Merseyrail trains have been cancelled on a number of lines across the network this morning. Commuters heading into work on Wednesday, January 8 are facing disruption due to the weather and electricity supply issues.
This includes cancellations on the Chester and Ellesmere Port line, the Wirral line, the Southport line and the Headbolt lane via Kirkby line. Merseyrail warned passengers this morning there would be some changes to train services due to “ongoing poor weather”.
The train operator said cancellations have been put in place on the Wirral line due to electricity supply issues at Birkenhead North. A yellow weather warning for ice still remains in place and covers the majority of Merseyside, excluding the waterfront areas such as Hoylake, Formby and Southport. The yellow weather alert is set to end at midday today.
