The family of two missing sisters in Aberdeen have released an emotional statement urging people not to “spread any unfounded rumours” as police extend their search.
Eliza and Henrietta Huszti were last seen in the city centre in Market Street at Victoria Bridge at around 2.12am on Tuesday, January 7.
CCTV in Market Street showed the 32-year-old sisters crossing Victoria Bridge and turning right onto a footpath next to the River Dee heading in the direction of the Aberdeen Boat Club. Searches of the river were held on Friday morning.
Today, officers are carrying out a land search in the Boat House area, near Duthie Park. Specialist resources, including the police helicopter, dog branch and the marine unit, along with emergency service partners, have been assisting in the searches.
The sisters were last seen just after 2am on Tuesday.

Police will remain at the scene while further searches, including the coast towards the Port of Aberdeen’s South Harbour, and towards Duthie Park, are carried out. This comes as relatives back home in Hungary have urged people not to spread unfounded rumours about the sisters’ disappearance.
A family statement addressed to friends and relatives was released on social media today in Hungarian, that was translated by the BBC, confirming news of the sisters’ disappearance was true.
It said: “Therefore, we kindly ask everyone for respect. Please do not spread any unfounded rumours. We can only say what’s already been in the news.”
The family said the authorities in Scotland were carrying out investigations. The statement concluded: “The family is not in a position to give everyone separate information. Thank you all for being with us in these difficult times.”

Officers are liaising with authorities in Hungary, where the missing women are from, to support relatives as searches continue. CCTV footage from the area where Eliza and Henrietta were last seen is also being examined, with door-to-door enquiries being carried out, as well as speaking to local businesses.
The River Dee remains the focus of searches as there is no evidence of the missing women leaving the immediate area. Eliza and Henrietta are both described as white and of slim build with long, brown hair.
Also on Friday, a their brother Jozsef told BBC News the pair’s mum spoke to them on Saturday, having “a 40-minute conversation and nothing appeared out of the ordinary”. Concerns have been growing in the days since.
Their brother previously said the sisters seemed “fine” in the days before they went missing. Their sister Edit Huszti – the other triplet – said she spoke to them on a video call on New Year’s Eve and they appeared happy and cheerful. She said the sisters were very close and did most things together.

Chief Inspector Darren Bruce said: “Eliza and Henrietta’s family are understandably extremely worried about them and we are working tirelessly to find them.
“We are seriously concerned about them and have significant resources dedicated to the enquiry. We are again urging the public to come forward with any information relating to Eliza and Henrietta’s whereabouts.
“The focus of our search remains the River Dee and I would again ask, if you were in the area at the time, please think back, did you notice anyone matching their description? Even if it doesn’t seem significant, please pass any information on and let us be the judge of that.
“I would again urge businesses in and around the South Esplanade and Menzies Road area to please review their CCTV footage for early morning on Tuesday, 7 January, 2025 and contact us if it holds anything that may be relevant to our investigation.
“We are also keen to hear from anyone with dashcam footage from that time. Anyone with any information is asked to contact 101 quoting incident number 0735 of Tuesday, 7 January, 2025.”
