New CGI shows massive make-over plan for distinctive Coventry pub

A new image shows what a planned make-over will look like at a well-known Coventry pub. The Devonshire Arms has stood on the corner of Sewall Highway and Torcross Avenue for more than 80 years.

Its current distinctive blue and white exterior is set to be given a make-over. This follows planning permission being granted to changes being made.

A planning application asked for the go-ahead for the removal and replacement of existing signage and the installation of illuminated totem and corex signage. Also to paint the name and brand on the external façade, and a new directional car park signage

Contained within the application is CGI which showed what the changes will look like. This make-over of the outside of the pub includes a new white-painted look around the building.

The application has been approved by Coventry City Council. The officer report states: “The proposal largely seeks to remove and replace the existing signage to reflect the pub company’s updated branding.

“This includes the installation of a new totem sign, new painted signs on the façade of the building, and the installation of a new corex sign, new directional car parking signage is also proposed. These signs are of an appropriate scale relative to the subject site and given the overall improvements to the façade of the building and the surrounding site, would contribute positively to the character of the area.

“The proposal is therefore considered to accord with Policy DE1 of the Coventry LocalPlan 2017, and the impact on visual amenity is therefore acceptable.”

It means that the changes can now be made.
