The Newcastle Quayside 10k is taking place on Saturday with a warning of road closures during the event.
The organiser, Run Through UK, is hosting the run with the perfect backdrop of the Quayside.
The course will allow runners to take in the sites of the Quayside area, passing the Swing Bridge and going under the High Level Bridge, the Queen Elizabeth II Bridge, the King Edward VII Bridge and the Redheugh Bridge, before coming back the same way.
The A race, for those running at a time of less than 40 minutes, begins at 9am, while the B race, for those running at over 40 minutes, starts at 9.20am.
There is no specific event parking, so those attending are asked to park in a public car park on either the Newcastle or Gateshead sides of the river. Those travelling by public transport should disembark from the Metro or a train at Newcastle Central Station, and the bus at Gateshead Interchange.
There is also a 90-minute cut-off time in place due to the road closures, so participants are asked to ensure that they have arrived on the Quayside in good time. Entry includes your timed results, a unique medal, free event photos and a goodie bag.
The Newcastle Quayside 10k road closures on Saturday, January 18 are as follows:
- Quayside Road: 6am-11am
- Lombard Street: 6am-11am
- Queen Street: 6am–11am
- Swing Bridge: 8am-11am
