Nightclub property and apartments damaged after building fire in Kinsale

A fire broke out at a former nightclub bar property and overhead apartments in Kinsale early this morning.

Cork Fire Service Units from Carrigaline and Bandon assisted the Kinsale Fire crews in response to a blaze which broke out at a former bar building at Market Place. There are also residential apartments above the nightclub.

The alarm was raised to smoke and fire at the property this morning at around 6 am. Gardaí also responded to the scene.

There were traffic diversions through Kinsale this morning as nearly the entire town centre comprising the narrow streets of Market Place, Market Quay and Market Square were cordoned off to allow emergency services to respond to the incident.

The fire was brought under control by 11am. It’s understood that it was a serious incident which caused major damage to the property. But thankfully, there was no one inside the building when it went up in flames and there have been no injuries reported.

It’s understood the fire has caused significant damage to the property.
