One-man crimewave banned from Next, M&S, Boots, Home Bargains and every Co-op

A one-man crimewave has been banned from going to any Co-op stores in his home town. Prolific shoplifter Christopher Davies is also barred from visiting Grand Junction Retail Park in Crewe for the next three years.

The action has been taken after Davies, 39, of no fixed address, after he has become the scourge of multiple retailers in Crewe due to his thieving ways.

Police secured a Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) at Chester Magistrates’ Court on January 9. It means if Davies is caught flouting the order, he will face immediate arrest and potentially a prison sentence or a hefty fine.

The application for a CBO was made after officers complied evidence relating to a number of shoplifting incidents committed by Davies across the Crewe area.

Inspector Dan Welch, of Crewe Local Policing Unit, said: “Christopher Davies is a prolific shoplifter that has stolen from local businesses across the town for a long time; hopefully the issuing of this CBO, banning him from the Grand Junction Retail Park and every branch of the Cooperative in Crewe, will deter such actions in the future.

“I also hope that the order given to Davies today can provide some reassurance to residents and businesses that we are doing all we can to deter criminality and anti-social behaviour within Crewe. Criminal Behaviour Orders are preventative orders with strict restrictions that are imposed to stop persistent offenders committing further crimes and the breaching of them comes with considerable repercussions.

“I’d continue to urge residents to report any suspicious activity or retail crime, so that together, we can make life difficult for criminals like Davies and make Cheshire a hostile for those intent on committing crime.”

Grand Junction Retail Park is home to shops including Next, River Island, M&S, Home Bargains, Boots, Matalan, TKMaxx, Pets at Home and Sports Direct.
