An 11-year-old schoolgirl had a narrow escape after a man and woman reportedly attempted to ‘grab’ her during a morning walk to school near Manchester.
On Tuesday morning (January 14) around 8:30am, the terrifying attempt took place when a man and woman encountered the youngster on Silver Street near Cutnook Lane junction in the Manchester suburb of Irlam. Eyewitnesses say the suspects emerged from a car and van that had been cruising the area. The brave girl managed to break free and alert an adult about the harrowing experience.
Police have launched an investigation with a detailed description of the perpetrators; a man around 5ft 9in tall, with short dark hair, clean-shaven, wearing blue jeans and a black hoodie, and a woman in leggings and a black hoodie.

They are also looking for a black four-door car and a white, new-looking small van with a sliding door spotted in the vicinity.
To further aid the pursuit and calm local residents’ nerves, additional officers have been patrolling locally even as detectives urge the public to present any footage from dashcams, CCTV or doorbells that might point towards suspicious activity.
Detective Inspector Justin Bryant of Greater Manchester Police’s Salford district said: “This is of course a concerning and stressing incident and I would like to reassure the community that we are doing all we can to investigate the circumstances,” reports the Manchester Evening News.

“We are keen to hear from anyone who may have witnessed something or has footage from around the time of the incident.
“We would urge anyone with any information to please get in touch, as your assistance could be greatly beneficial to our work. We are ensuring that the girl and the family are being kept-up-to date and supported at this time.”
