Pedestrian hit by car and seriously hurt in Gloucester

A pedestrian has been taken to hospital with serious injuries after colliding with a car last last night, Tuesday, January 14, in Gloucester. The victim, a man in his 30s, was taken to Southmead Hospital in Bristol with serious injuries.

Police were called to the scene near the junction of Barton Street and St James Street in Gloucester. A Skoda was involved in the collision, which took place around 11.10pm last night, police have said.

Barton Street was closed for a number of hours as an investigation was carried out. The road has since been opened.

Police have spoken to some witnesses but are now appealing for anyone who has not spoken to officers to come forward. Anyone who witnessed the incident, or who has any information which may assist police, is asked to click here and quote the incident number 538 of 14 January.

A statement from Gloucestershire Police said: “A man has been seriously injured following a collision between a pedestrian and car on Barton Street, Gloucester last night, Tuesday 14 January.

“The incident, which involved a Skoda, happened close to the junction with St James Street at around 11.10pm.

“Emergency services were called and a 35-year-old man from Gloucester was taken to Southmead Hospital in Bristol after sustaining serious injuries and where he currently remains.

“Barton Street was closed for a number of hours while collision investigators conducted an examination of the scene and a number of witnesses have been spoken to by officers. The road has since reopened.
