A woman has been hospitalised after being hit by a car on Canvey Island. Residents reported seeing Long Road and Jones Corner closed by police yesterday afternoon (January 9).
There were reports of an air ambulance and police cars at the scene. The road was shut for much of yesterday evening.
It has now been confirmed that there was a collision between a pedestrian and a car on Canvey Island at 4.50pm yesterday. An adult woman was taken to Basildon hospital for treatment.

An East of England Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called just before 4.50pm on Thursday January 9 with reports of a collision between a pedestrian and a car. Two ambulances, a rapid response vehicle, an ambulance officer vehicle and the Essex and Herts Air Ambulance were sent to the scene. The patient, an adult woman, was transported to Basildon Hospital for further treatment.”
Essex Police have also been contacted for comment.
