Pedestrian killed after car ‘rolled over’ in Essex crash

A 40-year-old woman has sadly died after an incident yesterday morning (Sunday, January 12). Essex Police were called at around 10am, following reports of a collision involving a car and a pedestrian at Powers Hall Road.

Emergency services attended after a Mitsubishi Shogun came to rest on its side. The driver was unharmed. Sadly, the female pedestrian, aged in her 40s, died at the scene despite the best efforts of paramedics.

Detectives investigating a fatal collision in Witham are appealing for witnesses and dash cam footage. The driver was arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving. However, he was released under investigation while police continue making enquiries.

The road was closed as Essex Police carried out an investigation at the scene, and to allow for recovery of the car before reopening shortly before 3pm.
