Plans set out to open new children’s home for vulnerable young people

Plans have been put forward to turn a house in Ramsey into a children’s home for vulnerable young people. Linden Lodge Property Ltd said the home will help meet a national and local need for high-quality and accessible care facilities for vulnerable children. The company has applied to Huntingdonshire District Council for permission to convert a house in Newtown Road into a children’s home for up to five children between 11 and 18 years old.

If approved the home would provide care for children with learning disabilities and other complex needs. The company said the home would be registered and regulated by Ofsted. The planning documents said: “The care home will provide a safe, nurturing environment for children with learning disabilities and other complex needs, enabling them to grow and develop within a supportive community.

“Local placements reduce disruption to children’s lives, allowing them to maintain connections with their schools, friends, and families. The care home will create job opportunities for local residents, including carers, support staff, and administrative roles. The operator, Linden Lodge Property Ltd, is committed to hiring and training local staff, contributing to the local economy.

“By fostering engagement with local schools, community groups, and services, the care home will promote inclusivity and strengthen community ties. Structured activities and supervised outings will ensure that the children positively integrate into the local area.”
