A Plymouth man has appeared in court accused of a series of violent assaults, including attacks on two young children.

Brandon Wyatt was arrested by police on Friday evening following search involving a large number of officers and the NPAS police helicopter. Officers were initially contacted at around 5pm on Friday [January 10] following reports that a woman had allegedly been assaulted at an address in Foliot Road, North Prospect.

A short while later police were alerted to another incident in Plympton, where a woman and two children were also allegedly assaulted by the same suspect. All four were taken to Derriford Hospital for treatment.

Wyatt, aged 21 and from Pasley Street, Plymouth, was arrested in Derriford Road and taken to Charles Cross police station custody suite for interview.

He was later charged and today was produced at Plymouth Magistrates’ Court where he faced a series of charges.

They included:

District Judge Stuart Smith made an order prohibiting the naming of the two children in the case, both of whom are under the age of six.

Prosecutor Dominic Tucker summarised the circumstances surrounding the offences.

No pleas were entered and District Judge Smith remanded Wyatt into custody ahead of a hearing at Plymouth Crown Court on January 27 where he will appear via video link.
