Police are appealing for witnesses after a smash between a bus and two cars shut a busy Stoke-on-Trent road. Emergency services were called out to Hanley Road in Smallthorne – at its junction with Esperanto Way – where three patients were checked over by paramedics.
Officers closed the road from Smallthorne roundabouts while affected vehicles were recovered. The collision had occurred at around 9.50am yesterday morning.
Today Staffordshire Police have issued an appeal for witnesses after officers found a crash between a bus, a silver Toyota Yaris and a blue Skoda Octavia. Cops say the driver of the Toyota, a woman in her 70s, had sustained a ‘superficial head injury’.
The bus driver, who was the sole occupant, along with the Skoda driver and their passenger were not said to have been hurt.
A police spokeswoman said: “All drivers remained at the scene to assist us with our inquiries. Anyone who saw what happened or who may have relevant CCTV or dashcam footage should contact us.”
As reported by StokeonTrentLive, West Midlands Ambulance Service sent two ambulances to the scene.
A spokeswoman said: “A man was assessed by crews, but did not wish to go to hospital, so was given selfcare advice and was discharged at the scene. The other two patients were assessed by our crews however none required medical treatment and were discharged at the scene.”
Witnesses should call Staffordshire Police on 101 and quote incident 144 of January 14.
