Police are at the scene of a serious incident on the A30 in Cornwall this morning (Friday, January 10). The road is shut in both directions near Redruth and a diversion route is in place.
Devon and Cornwall Police said there is no risk to public safety but have urged drivers to avoid the area. National Highways previously said the road will be closed for a “considerable” amount of time.
Devon and Cornwall Police said in an update at 9.15am: “We are currently dealing with a serious incident in the Illogan area of Cornwall. There is no risk to public safety and we will provide further updates as soon as we are able to.
“The incident has resulted in the closure of the eastbound carriageway of the A30. We ask motorists to avoid this area. Our enquiries are ongoing.”
National Highways added: “The A30 in Cornwall is closed both directions between A3047 near Pool and A3047 near Redruth due to police led incident.
“Devon and Cornwall Police are on scene. The incident is expected to be protracted and in place for a considerable time.”
