Police searching for a missing man have found a body at a landfill site after 45 days of scouring through rubbish.
Essex Police discovered the body of Cumali Turhan, 46, on Saturday. He was last seen in the early hours of November 19 at The Globe pub in Rainsford Road, Chelmsford. The force said it “established serious concerns for his welfare” following initial enquiries.
The force said Ceyhan Dinler, 38, is wanted in connection with Mr Turhan’s disappearance. The suspect left the UK from London Stansted Airport on the day Mr Turhan was last in contact with anyone.
A second man, Ciprian Ilie, 44, appeared before Chelmsford Crown Court last month charged with assisting an offender. He pleaded not guilty to a count of assisting an offender between November 18 and November 20, and also denied preventing the lawful and decent burial of a dead body. He was remanded into custody until September 15, when he is due to stand trial.

Detective Chief Inspector Louise Metcalfe said the investigation has been “extremely challenging”. Her statement read: “Specialist officers have been working diligently for 45 days at the landfill site in conditions that have called heavily on their resilience.
“Their hard work has continued unabated even during the extreme weather to support detectives who have worked quickly to progress the extremely challenging investigation. Throughout this difficult time, we have been in regular contact with Cumali’s family. They will continue to be supported by specialist officers as it will take some time for them to come to terms with this news.”
Essex Police said information suggests Mr Turhan may have been in Barista, a bar and restaurant in Duke Street, Chelmsford, after he was at The Globe, but that CCTV does not show him leaving Barista.
The force said enquiries at the landfill site where the body was found are expected to continue for several days. It is also urging anyone who has information that may help the investigation to report it.
