Police investigation launched after crash between van and tram on University Boulevard in Nottingham

A police investigation has been launched following a road traffic collision between a van and a tram on a busy Nottingham road. The crash was reported at 6.29pm on Tuesday, January 7, on University Boulevard.

Officers continue to investigate the circumstances in which the crash took place. A spokesperson for Nottinghamshire Police said: “There was a crash between a van and a tram at 6.29pm on University Boulevard on January 7.

“There were no serious injuries reported and no arrests have been made. We continue to investigate what happened and have identified the driver of the van.

“There was no need to arrest them at the scene but the investigation into what happened remains ongoing.” Following the crash, the A6005 University Boulevard eastbound was closed, with Inrix reporting the collision took place between the A6464 University Boulevard and East Drive.

Pictures sent to Nottinghamshire Live from the scene show a white van on the tram tracks, having collided with the 225 tram. Both the van and the tram had their fronts damaged during the collision.

Nottingham Express Transit (NET) has refused to comment on the collision due to it being handled as a police incident. Anyone who saw or has footage of the collision is asked to contact the police. quoting incident number 053207012025.
