Police have made an arrest after power was cut to homes in Kent and an electricity cable stolen. Kent Police said the incident saw eight metres of cable taken from UK Power Networks generator.
Officers were called to a report of cable theft in Shacklands Road, Shoreham at just after 4.50pm on Tuesday (January 7). They followed a suspected stolen van from the scene.
The vehicle came to a stop at farmland near Spade Lane in Hartlip, Sittingbourne, where three occupants exited and were pursued by officers on foot.
One man was detained and a knife confiscated. Cannabis cultivation equipment, two weapons, and vehicle parts were found in a later search, police said.
Kent Police said: “He was arrested in connection with theft, weapons, drugs and driving offences. The 39 year old has since been bailed pending further enquiries and an investigation is ongoing to identify and locate two further suspects.
“Anyone with information is urged to contact the west Kent appeals line on 01622 604100, quoting reference number 46/3720/25. Local residents with CCTV, and drivers with dashcam who may have been in the area at the time, are also asked to check for relevant footage.”
