Police make attempted murder arrest five months after Birmingham shooting – everything we know

West Midlands Police have arrested a man in connection with a shooting in August last year. After spotting a “suspicious vehicle” last night, January 11, officers arrested a man on suspicion of attempted murder.

The man, 31, was taken into custody after a short foot chase, the force said. The arrest was made after two people were seriously injured in a shooting incident in Bartley Green on August 28, 2024.

Emergency services rushed to at an address in Clapgate Lane at around 5.40pm where they treated one man for a gunshot wound and a second man for a fractured skull. The second man was believed to have been injured during the same incident, and police confirmed on Sunday January 12 that both victims continue to recover from their injuries.

A spokesperson for West Midlands Police said on January 12: “We have arrested a man for attempted murder following an incident last August. We stopped a suspicious vehicle last night, and following a short foot chase, officers arrested a 31-year-old man on suspicion of attempted murder.

“The arrest is in connection with an incident in Clapgate Lane, Bartley Green, Birmingham on 28 August last year, where a man suffered a gunshot wound and another man suffered a fractured skull.

“The two victims are continuing to recover from their injuries. An investigation was launched at the time and we are still continuing to appeal for anyone with information.
