Police say ‘busy’ as they crack down on vehicle-related crime in Coventry

Police have been cracking down on vehicle-related crime in Coventry. Officers have been out across the city including in Tile Hill, Canley and Eastern Green.

Officers from Radford SNT spotted a Ford Transit on Jubilee Crescent that was believed to be linked to criminal activity in Coventry. Checks revealed the vehicle had no tax and no insurance, which led to the van being seized.

Cops have also been out conducting speed checks along Clifford Bridge Road in Walsgrave. Residents are also being invited to a PACT meeting at Wyken Community Centre on Monday, January 20 from 6pm to 7pm.

Police responded to reports of a ‘suspicious’ SEAT Altea on Faulconbridge Avenue in Eastern Green. Officers recovered the car after it was found to have been stolen from Tile Hill.

Teams also recovered a stolen Vauxhall Astra from Skylark Street in Canley. A ‘prolific’ shoplifter in Earlsdon has also been charged after being arrested within 24 hours of a theft offence in Coventry.

In a statement issued yesterday (January 6), West Midlands Police said: “Officers in Coventry have been busy at the start of 2025. Radford SNT spotted a vehicle on Jubilee Crescent that was believed to be associated with crime.”

It added: “Checks revealed the vehicle had no tax and no insurance, and the van was seized. Officers have also been out conducting speed checks along Clifford Bridge Road.

“A prolific shoplifter in Earlsdon was charged after being arrested within 24 hours of a theft offence. We are also holding a PACT meeting at Wyken Community Centre on January 20 from 6pm to 7pm.”
