‘We’ve never seen anything like this before’ – that’s the verdict of a new podcast which explores policing Peterborough’s sex worker industry. The hosts say that an escalating pattern of behaviour could be putting women in danger and officers need to act fast.
The force’s next podcast episode explores the vulnerable nature of the street sex worker industry in Peterborough and how it is policed. Episode two – ‘We’ve never seen anything like this before’ – policing Peterborough’s sex worker industry – is available now.
During the episode, PC Sarah-Kate Watson talks about how sex work is policed and how an unusual case involving a man displaying odd behaviour was prevented from potential escalation.
“This case was very unusual, and it was a very unique thing he was doing, something we hadn’t seen before”, said PC Sarah-Kate Watson.
“And while at first this behaviour may have seemed small or insignificant, it was starting to escalate, and we were concerned about where it would go next.”
The episode is available via the force’s YouTube and streaming services including Spotify and Apple. This is the force’s fourth podcast series, previous series are available on YouTube and Spotify.
