Former Glasgow Warriors star Stuart Hogg has been sentenced today following a catalogue of domestic abuse against his estranged ex-wife which spanned over five years.
The 32-year-old was sentenced for domestic abuse offences at Selkirk Sheriff Court today, January 9. He was given a Community Payback Order and a five-year non-harassment order.
The former Scotland rugby captain admitted to the offences against Gillian Hogg, which took place between April 2019 and August 2024, in the Scottish Borders and Devon area of England. He was convicted of the offences at Selkirk Sheriff Court on Monday, November 4, 2024.
Police Scotland have since responded to the sentencing, commending his victim for coming forwards.
Detective Sergeant Jade Wardell said: “Domestic abuse in any form is completely unacceptable.
“Without the victim coming forward and reporting these incidents to us, we would not have been able to ensure that Hogg faces the consequences.
“Police Scotland will not tolerate domestic abuse of any kind. If you are experiencing or have experienced any type of abuse, please contact us on 101. You can be assured of being fully supported by specialist officers and our partner agencies.”
