An Essex county road has been shut this morning (January 6) following a serious crash in the early hours. Police remain at the scene of the incident near Maldon following the incident at 2.30am this morning.
The crash took place on Hackmans Lane in Purleigh and the road remains closed and will be for the foreseeable future, police said. The incident involved just one vehicle, but police have not yet confirmed how many people were injured.
The road is closed between Hagg Hill in Cold Norton) and Birchwood Road in Cock Clarks. A spokesman for Essex Police said: “We remain at the scene of a serious one-vehicle collision which was reported to us shortly after 2.30am today, Monday 6 January.

“Hackmans Lane, in Purleigh, near Maldon, is closed whilst our collision investigation continues. We would encourage motorists in the area to please find other routes whilst the incident continues to be dealt with. We will provide an update as soon as we practically can.”
