Petrol at a garage station in Essex has become “potentially contaminated” after reports of people’s cars breaking down after filling up. BP has launched an investigation following multiple reports in connection with their petrol station in London Road, Rayleigh.
Complaints were made to BP following several reports of cars breaking down after using the petrol station in the past couple of days. BP has now confirmed it has found an issue at the site and is investigating.
However. it claims the tank in question has been isolated and the petrol station on London Road is now running as normal. The firm has urged anyone with concerns about their vehile to get in touch with them.

A spokesman said: “We have identified an issue at the site with a potentially contaminated tank, which is currently under investigation. The affected tank in question has been isolated and the site is now open and operational.
“We are taking steps to assess the potential impact and determine the number of people who may be affected. Any customers with concerns should contact our careline for support careline@bp.com.”
