The longtime partner of a family man from who would “do anything for anyone” has paid tribute to him following his tragic death aged just 38.
Tim Todd, from Tetney, passed away on September 17, leaving behind partner Sophie, son Albie and daughter Elsie, who are just three years old and six months old respectively. He also leaves behind parents Dave and Manda, parents-in-law Carol and Chris, siblings Beth and Dean, niece Liberty, nephew Ollie and many friends who loved him.
Tim, who lived in Humberston with his family, had just recently become a dad for the second time to his daughter Elsie and had been planning to propose to Sophie on her 30th birthday when he died suddenly in his sleep whilst away in Tenerife on a family holiday, their first as a family of four.
Paying tribute to Tim, Sophie told Grimsby Live: “He was the most caring person I knew. In the last seven years I knew him he didn’t say anything bad about anyone, and he would do anything for anyone. We started our family nearly four years ago now, and he was such a family man. That’s all he cared about, and he just wanted to support us.
“He was so hands-on as a dad, and my little boy was such a daddy’s boy. They were out in the garden all the time doing jobs and playing football. They were never away from each other’s side, it was like little and large. He was besotted with Elsie, and it’s so sad that he didn’t have chance to spend more time with her.”

An incredible 380 people attended Tim’s funeral in October, and 200 people were present at the wake.
“He was so well loved by everyone. I couldn’t believe how many people turned up for him,” Sophie said.
Speaking about how the couple met, she continued: “We met at a mutual friends’ wedding – we both knew the bride and groom respectively and we were the only single ones there, and as soon as he bought me a drink, that was it. From the get go he was committed and said he wanted a family.

“Over the years we enjoyed many holidays together, whether it was to the Lake District or abroad. We loved a good walk and always tried to find new spots to go walking. He loved sport and would watch any sport on the TV, and he loved playing golf.”
In late December, Tim’s friends organised a charity fun day which included a raffle, auction and a football match, in homage to his love of all things football. They raised an incredible £12,000 for the British Heart Foundation, and plan to host a charity event every year going forward.

“He was so fit and well and we’d been in the swimming pool hours before he died,” Sophie said.
“It’s so hard to comprehend because he wasn’t poorly, he was so well, and literally within minutes, everything changed.
“I loved his calm, laid-back nature and the way he would do anything for me. He was so supportive. We just kept each other going.”
