A decision has been made on a Grimsby opticians proposed move.
Scartho Eyecare sought to move from 11 Waltham Road to a former café in Louth Road, by the Scartho Fork roundabout. Its practice manager has previously said the proposal was prompted by outgrowing its current location.
It has been granted planning permission to convert the former home of Shaneys, and before that Restella’s, into an opticians. There are small alterations to a previously approved scheme.
A balcony element to a rear single storey extension has been removed, essentially meaning the building’s footprint will not increase. The frontage has also been altered. It will now remove an inset doorway in favour of a flat frontage, to allow a second doorway, for access to an existing first floor flat.
The new practice will include three test rooms – down one from previously proposed. There will also be a tea room, reception and waiting area. “The reuse of the building is considered positive and will bring a vacant building back into use within the local centre and conservation area,” a council officer concluded.
