An adorable young seal discovered in a Kent car park was taken care of by experts. The lonesome pup was found in Thanet by a quick-thinking resident who alerted British Divers Marine Life Rescue.
The picture of the grey seal sparked quite a reaction on social media, with many wanting news of its welfare. Jamie Wood took the photo and acted swiftly to get the seal help by alerting the rescue organisation. Jamie stayed with it in the cold and rain for a while and the experts soon got there.
The baby, which had a stunning grey, white and black coat, was lying on its side near the barriers in Barnes Car Park in Westbrook. At one point, he raised his head to rest it on the edge of a kerb. Westbrook is west of Margate and east of Westgate-on-Sea.

People praised Jamie and also Sheila Stone, who was one of those who took care of the pup, and they expressed their delight the little seal was looked after.
A spokesperson for the organisation told KentLive: “The incident was attended by BDMLR-trained Marine Mammal Medics. The seal was checked over and found to be in good health.”
“After the assessment, the seal was released and has now returned to the sea. We see lots of young Atlantic grey seal pups at this time of year, if someone does come across one they should not try to move it, keep dogs away and on leads, and call our rescue hotline.”
