Search for witness after woman seriously injured in 2am attack outside NatWest

Police are searching for a witness after a woman was attacked outside a bank. Officers say a man may be able to help with their investigation into an assault near NatWest in Leek.

A woman in her 30s spoke to the witness outside Go Outdoors in Derby Street following the incident, which happened at 2am on Saturday, October 19. She had suffered head and facial injuries

The witness is described as a bald white man, in his 40s with a large build. At the time he was wearing a fleece and jeans.

A Staffordshire Police spokesman said: “We have released an image of a man we want to talk to who might have witnessed a serious assault in Leek. The witness spoke to the victim, a woman in her 30s, near to the Go Outdoors store on Derby Street. Our investigation is ongoing. Anyone who knows the witness or who has any relevant information should contact us.”

Police confirmed a a28-year-old man. from Cheadle, was arrested on suspicion of assault. He has since been placed on conditional police bail while inquiries continue.
