Seven people have been arrested following an alleged shooting which left a man seriously injured.
It follows an investigation by Cleveland Police after reports of a firearms incident in Hartlepool on Thursday, January 2. Police said a man suffered suspected gun shot wounds.
Five males – aged 19, 21, 23, 32, 32 – and two women – aged 34 and 54 – have been arrested following the alleged incident on Garside Drive at around 4.15pm. A police spokesperson confirmed: “Seven people have been arrested in connection with an incident on Thursday 2 nd January 2025, whereby a man was left seriously injured from suspected gun shot wounds on Garside Drive, Hartlepool.
“Five males aged 19, 21, 23, 32, 32 and two women aged 34 and 54 have been arrested and all remain in police custody at this time. The injured man, aged in his thirties, remains in hospital receiving treatment.”
Pictures from the scene show a fleet of Cleveland Police vehicles stationed at the scene including crime scene investigation. A large cordon was erected.
Cleveland Police previously said the man was “seriously injured” and detectives have conducted enquiries at a number of addresses. On Friday, the force said is not believed there is any threat to the wider public.
One witness told Teesside Live: “Police are on Garside Drive and the area taped off opposite is Purves Place. Matrix arrived at around 1am all armed.”
