Seven defendants in North Staffordshire’s courts

Here are the latest cases from the region’s courts:

CHELL: Twenty-two-year-old Kieron Meirhulme assaulted a pub worker and caused criminal damage at the venue. North Staffordshire Justice Centre heard Meirhulme believed he had left his wallet inside The Hazlehurst Arms, in Chell, after it had closed on June 18 and an employee told him he could not locate it. Prosecutor Suzanne Swindail said: “The defendant punched the employee to the left side of the face with his right hand. The employee and his partner decided to go back in the pub to get away from the defendant. The defendant stated his vape was inside the pub. Checks were made inside the location but no vape could be found. He tried to punch the window. He kicked the bottom panel causing it to crack. He walked off and punched a further window.” In total he caused £508.85 damage at the pub. Meirhulme, of Little Chell Lane, Tunstall, pleaded guilty to common assault and criminal damage. Magistrates adjourned the case for a report to be prepared on the defendant. He will learn his fate on March 28 and his bail was extended.
