Seven-year-old girl dies after being seriously injured in two car crash near Lincolnshire village

A seven-year-old girl has died following a two-vehicle collision near Metheringham. The incident took place at around 5.45pm on Friday, January 3 on the B1202 Metheringham Heath Lane, which runs between the A15 and the B1188.

Two people sustained serious injuries during the collision, which involved a Kia Rio and a white Citroen Relay, including the little girl. She was treated at the scene before being taken to hospital. She died just before 4.30am on Saturday, January 4.

Lincolnshire Police says the family is being supported by specially-trained officers. Two other people are believed to have sustained minor injuries during the incident.

Following the incident Bloxholm Lane, the B1188, and the A15, were closed several hours. An investigation is ongoing to determine the circumstances of the collision.

Officers would like to speak to any witnesses in the area, who may have seen, or captured via dashcam either of those vehicles or the collision itself.
