A statement has been issued by West Midlands Ambulance on a late-night crash inside one of Birmingham’s A38 tunnels. Footage was widely circulated of the smash on Friday morning, which showed a man struggling beside smoking wreckage of a car inside the Queensway tunnel.
The footage was shared on a a Birmingham Instagram page and appears to have been taken by a driver who had stopped. In the video a man in a dark coat could be seen struggling on the floor of the tunnel.
The silver Renault Clio he was in was shown smashed up at the front and facing the wrong way into oncoming traffic. From the footage, the crash looked serious and at the time the video was shared, the condition of the driver had not been confirmed.
