‘Stolen’ Volvo on ‘cloned plates’ crashes onto driveway during police chase

This dramatic picture shows the mangled wreckage of a car that crashed as the driver tried to evade police. The ‘stolen’ Volvo, which was being driven on ‘cloned plates’ was spotted by officers in Wolverhampton.

The vehicle was believed to have been used in a series of burglaries and car thefts, police said. The silver car was “stung pre-emptively”, then pursued.

The driver was arrested after crashing onto a driveway. A photograph from the scene, posted on X by West Midlands Police’s traffic unit, showed the impact of the smash had caused the vehicle’s airbags to deploy.
