Suspect denies attempting to murder his dad after man in his 60s is stabbed

A suspect has denied a charge of attempted murder after a man in his 60s was stabbed. Merseyside Police were called to Cobham Road in Moreton, Wirral, shortly before 6am on Saturday, December 7, after receiving reports that the male had been knifed.

A woman, also aged in her 60s, was also reportedly assaulted during the incident. Jack Tyler, of Cobham Road, has since been charged with attempting to murder his dad Joseph Tyler and a count of assaulting his mum Patricia Tyler occasioning her actual bodily harm.

The 30-year-old appeared before Liverpool Crown Court this morning, Monday, in order to face these alleged offences. Appearing via video link to HMP Liverpool, he pleaded not guilty to both of these charges.

Tyler also denied further counts of wounding with intent against Mr Tyler and criminal damage, in relation to blinds belonging to Ms Tyler, on the same date. He was further remanded into custody by Judge Simon Medland KC ahead of a scheduled trial in the week of June 2 this year.

The ECHO previously reported that a man was taken to hospital following the incident, where he was said to be in a stable condition. The woman who was injured meanwhile did not require hospital treatment.
