Teenage girl sexually attacked near Staffordshire leisure centre

A teenager has suffered a suspected sex attack near a Midlands leisure centre, with police appealing for witnesses to come forward. The incident took place in a field behind Burntwood Leisure Centre in High Street, Chasetown, on Monday (January 6).

Staffordshire Police is appealing for any witnesses to come forward but has not given a description of the alleged attacker. It is asking for anyone in the area at around 3pm when the attack is believed to have taken place, and who noticed anything suspicious to come forward.

The force has said it is carrying out a number of enquiries into the suspected attack at the Staffordshire centre.

In a statement, a spokesperson for Lichfield Police said: “We are appealing for information as we believe a teenage girl was sexually assaulted in Burntwood this afternoon. The sexual assault is believed to have taken place at approximately 3pm on Monday afternoon (January 6) in the field behind Burntwood Leisure Centre on High Street.

“Detectives have been carrying out a number of enquiries since as part of our investigation. Anyone who was in the area at the time or anyone with any information is urged to get in touch with us as soon as possible.
