Teenager arrested for drink driving after crashing into McDonald’s

A teenager has been arrested on suspicion of drink driving after she smashed into a McDonald’s in Southend. The 19-year-old from Leigh-on-Sea was initially taken to hospital before later being arrested.

Reports of a crash were made at around 9pm on Saturday evening (January 11) at the McDonald’s in Eastern Avenue, Southend. A car had been in collision with a table outside the restaurant.

The incident, which thankfully did not reportedly injure any pedestrians, occurred as a black Ford Fiesta crashed into the outside seating area. The car broke through a metal fence area that curved along the edge of the road.

According to Essex Police: “A 19-year-old woman from Leigh-on-Sea was arrested on suspicion of drink driving and taken to hospital. Our enquiries are ongoing.”
