The death of a 16-year-old boy in a Cambridge lake was likely to have been caused by drowning, a post mortem examination has found. Dishone Lloyd visited Burnside Lakes with a group of friends on August 12, 2024, when he went missing.
His body was found by the police on August 13, and his death was confirmed at 2.44pm the same day. At the opening of an inquest into the teenager’s death on Thursday (January 9), coroner Caroline Jones said a post mortem examination at Addenbrooke’s Hospital found the provisional cause of death to be drowning.
Dishone was a pupil at Mark Hall Academy in Harlow, Essex. A message from headteacher Matt Carter described him as a ‘cherished’ student who was due to receive his GCSE results just ten days after he went missing, on August 22.
Mr Carter said: “Dishone was not just a student at Mark Hall; he was a cherished member of our family and community. He brought positivity and warmth to those who knew him, and his presence was felt throughout our academy.
“Dishone’s spirit, laughter, and enjoyment of life was enjoyed by us all. He had just successfully completed his secondary education and had a bright future ahead of him, and the suddenness of this tragic loss is a stark reminder of just how precious and fragile life can be.”
