A teenage girl was sexually assaulted on a late-night train from Glasgow as New Year celebrations continued last week. British Transport Police have launched a probe after the incident, which took place on Thursday, January 2.
The victim was on the 10.42pm ScotRail service from Glasgow Central to Newton in South Lanarkshire when she was sexually assaulted. A man has been arrested in connection with the incident, which took place around 11pm and detectives are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
The train would have called at the likes of Pollokshields West, Maxwell Park, Shawlands and Pollokshaws East in Glasgow’s southside. It also stops at Langside, King’s Park, Croftfoot, Burnside and Kirkhill before arriving at Newton.

Meanwhile, a 67-year-old man has been arrested and charged following inquiries into a separate sexual assault in Clydebank. The incident happened around 9pm on Saturday, December 7, 2024, at a bus stop on Faifley Road, near the junctions with Langfaulds Crescent and Langside Street. The man has been reported to the Procurator Fiscal.
