Teesside Hospice launches 2025 Midnight Walk from Redcar to Marske

Teessiders are being encouraged to light up the night and raise cash for charity.

Teesside Hospice in Middlesbrough is hoping as many people as possible will sign up to take part in the 11km Midnight Walk in memory of loved ones. The event, which is being sponsored by Rose Funerals, will take place on Saturday, March 22 and hundreds of people will walk the 11k along the seafront from Redcar and Cleveland College, down Coast Road, to Marske and back.

A spokesperson for the Northgate Road hospice said: “Last year, the Teesside Hospice Midnight Walk raised an amazing £80,000 with over 700 walkers coming together for a night of remembrance. Teesside Hospice’s mission is to help families make the most of every day, creating lasting memories and experiences.

“By walking 11km through Redcar and Marske in the middle of the night, you’ll be helping create more memories for those living with a life limiting illness in Teesside.” Teesside Hospice exists to support people living with a terminal illness, helping them live as well as possible, for as long as possible.

It costs £6 million annually to run their services – that’s almost £17,000 every 24 hours. Every pound raised from the walk will go directly toward the vital services Teesside Hospice provides for those locally with life-limiting illnesses.

The spokesperson said: “Across Teesside, the need for specialist-level palliative care is increasing and we are seeing more young people with more complex conditions who need our care. Making sure our care is highly personalised is a core part of our work. We want to support people to stay in control of their lives, make decisions about their future and help them to create experiences and memories that will last a lifetime.”

By signing up for £10, you’ll receive your entry to the event, a free Teesside Hospice remembrance T-Shirt, flashing head boppers, finishers medal, hot food and drink, as well as entertainment and more. A spokesperson added: “Do something amazing today and sign up today by contacting fundraising@teessidehospice.co.uk or via the website at teessidehospice.org.”
