Essex is full of bustling train stations due to its proximity to London, making it a very popular destination for commuters. One tiny train station doesn’t see anywhere near the traffic experienced in busier stations such as Chelmsford or Shenfield, and sees less than 50 visitors each day.
Wrabness railway station is on the Mayflower Line, a branch of the Great Eastern Main Line. It is 65 miles down the line from London Liverpool Street and is situated between Mistley to the west and Harwich International station to the east.
Wrabness is classified as a “very small” train station by Greater Anglia. It only saw 17,280 passengers in the year 2021/2022 – that’s less than 50 passengers each day.

The station is so small that it is unstaffed, and doesn’t have toilets or a waiting room. It does, however, have amazing commuter links – with travelling into London being a breeze at Wrabness.
On some trains, you don’t have to change at all to head to London Liverpool Street. On others you will have to change once at either Colchester or Manningtree.
Wrabness is definitely underrated for its commuter value. Nestled along the Essex shoreline, this charming village offers a picturesque escape from the hustle and bustle of city life.
It’s a small place, with a friendly community vibe. Some folks absolutely adore its serene beauty and close-knit feel, while others find the lack of amenities and nightlife a bit wanting, according to AreaHive.
If you are looking for a relatively cheap place to live, but an easy commute into London, Wrabness is definitely a hidden gem. With house prices in Wrabness having an overall average of £310,500 over the last year – much below the Essex average – there is really nothing to complain about!
