Three people hospitalised after A12 crash that closed road for three hours

Three people have been taken to hospital after a collision on the A12 near Margaretting and Ingatestone. Emergency services rushed to the A12 southbound between junctions 13 and 14 on Sunday morning (January 5).

Police, fire and ambulance were all seen by eye-witnesses attending the scene. They rushed to the major Essex road following reports of a single-vehicle collision shortly after 7.30am.

Essex Police said three people have been taken to hospital. They have injuries that at this stage are not believed to be life-threatening. No arrests have been made.

A spokesperson for Essex Police said: “We were called to a single-vehicle collision on the southbound A12 close to Margaretting shortly after 7.30am this morning, Sunday 5 January. Three people have been taken to hospital for treatment for injuries which, at this stage, are not believed to be life-threatening.

“The road was closed whist emergency services worked to make the scene safe and the road was re-opened by 10.30am. No arrests have been made.”

An Essex County Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson: “We were called to a road traffic collision on the northbound A12, junctions 13 to 14, today at 7.41am. Crews from Ingatestone, Brentwood and Chelmsford (two) attended. They freed one casualty and left them in the care of the ambulance service by 8.57am.”
