Tinside Lido transformation among latest plans for Plymouth

Plans have been submitted which will enable transformation works around the historic Tinside Lido to continue. The floor of the main Tinside Lido building could be restored and turned into a multi-purpose space and café/bar.

Building B, located between the pool and Tinside Cove, could be refurbished for use as a youth outreach/watersports hub, enabling youth workers to help young people build confidence, develop skills and take part in marine-related training to learn about jobs in the “blue” marine sector. Plans this week submitted to Plymouth City Council would enable the work to be carried out.

An application for listed building consent for the demolition and replacement of two external walls of modern construction and replacement of ground floor slab to Building B has been proposed. The application says: “The area is mothballed, in poor condition, and needs complete refurbishment. The proposals include facilities to create an exciting venue for the public with spaces that support access to the water.

“Public access with an improved offer will help increase appreciation of the space and its incredible location. Existing details preserve architectural and historic interest. The new proposals comprise repairs on a like-for-like basis using traditional materials and techniques. Works are necessary to make the building watertight, the spaces usable, and secure its ongoing viability as a Grade II-listed Lido.”

Plymouth City Council planners will determine the fate of all the new applications listed below at a later date. Below is the full latest list of planning applications that have been submitted this week.
