Police and paramedics were called to a train station where a casualty was found dead on the tracks. The Cheshire tragedy has resulted in a number of services being suspended in Stoke-on-Trent.
Emergency services had been called out to Adlington at around 11.40am today. British Transport Police (BTP) say that sadly nothing could be done to save the casualty found on the tracks.
StokeonTrentLive reported how as a result services from CrossCountry, Northern and Avanti West Coast between Stoke-on-Trent and Stockport are suspended. Operators have been issuing advice to affected passengers.
Police say they are not treating the death as suspicious.
A BTP spokesman said: “Officers were called to Adlington railway station following reports of a casualty on the tracks. Paramedics also attended, however sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”
