Tragedy as man, 25, reported missing found dead

A body has been found in the search for a man reported as missing, police have confirmed.

An inquest into the death of George Duggan is now due to be opened and adjourned by a coroner in Manchester city centre on Tuesday.

Police in Bury issued appeals for the public’s help in early December, saying he was known to have mental health vulnerabilities.

According to the appeals, Mr Duggan was last seen at a Greater Manchester pub, The Lock Keeper in Radcliffe, near Bury, at around 11pm on Saturday, December 7.

Greater Manchester Police said at the time an ‘extensive’ search operation was underway to find him, with his description and a picture circulated on social media.

Sadly, the force has now confirmed Mr Duggan was found dead at a premises in Crumpsall, Manchester, two days later on December 9. Details of the tragedy have only now been confirmed by the force.

The death is not being treated as suspicious, said a spokesperson for GMP.

In a statement, GMP said: “Sadly, George Duggan was found deceased in a premises on Delauneys Road, Manchester, on December 9. His next of kin have been informed, and we will continue to support them.

“We do not believe that there are any suspicious circumstances, and a file has been sent to the coroner.”

No more details have been revealed. The inquest opening has been listed for Manchester Coroners’ Court on Tuesday.
