Trams STOPPED as second set of emergency works hit Greater Manchester

A second set of emergency works is causing major disruption to Metrolink services. All trams have been stopped on part of the Eccles line this morning (January 15).

There are no trams currently running between Eccles and Cornbrook as a result. Passengers are being warned to expect disruption and advised to use buses as an alternative, or walk to their destination.

An update on TfGM’s website says: “Due to emergency engineering works, the Eccles line is suspended including the Etihad to Media City service. Trams will continue to operate Ashton to Trafford Bar.

“There is ticket acceptance on 10, 33, 50, 52, 53, 67, 79, 100, 248 and 249 bus services. Simply show the driver your Metrolink ticket or pass when boarding.

“To continue your journey by bus, please visit our journey planner. Please select ‘options’ and check only the bus icon is highlighted.

“This feature is also available on the Bee Network app where you can also find bus tracking information. In addition to public transport, there are several destinations on this line that can be easily reached by walking.”

It’s the second set of emergency works to hit Greater Manchester today. Earlier works at Piccadilly Gardens, which affected trams at Market Street and Shudehill, have since been resolved.
