Two arrested in connection with housebreaking ‘in progress’ in Renfrew and Kilbarchan

Two men have been arrested in connection with separate incidents of housebreaking in Renfrew and Kilbarchan.

Separate reports were made to police of housebreakings in progress in Renfrew and Kilbarchan, police said. Local officers responded ‘promptly’ to the reports, and the suspects were arrested in both incidents.

In a statement, Police Scotland said: “Two males were arrested in the Renfrew and Kilbarchan areas following reports of separate housebreaking incidents in progress. Local Officers promptly attended both incidents and the suspects arrested.”

Police offered the following advice to residents:

  • Keep windows & doors locked – always remove the key from the lock where there is glazing nearby
  • Secure sheds & garages with good quality locks
  • Check any outside security lighting is working
  • Don’t leave tools/items lying around that could be used by a thief to gain entry through a window or door
  • Record and security mark valuable property
  • Don’t advertise an empty house on social media
  • Secure your vehicle and remove valuables from within
