Two men have been fined hundreds of pounds and given points on their licence after police discovered videos on YouTube of them “brazenly” committing several driving offences at a car meet near Surrey.
A Surrey Police spokesperson said: “The majority of car meets in Surrey do not cause any issues and pass off without a hitch, but when driving offences are committed and the safety of other road users is threatened, we will act robustly to bring these cases to court.”
Jake Crouch, 28, from Tunbridge Wells, and Alexander Mangion-Mackenzie, 36, from Gravesend, were ordered to appear at Guildford Magistrates’ Court on January 3 after police said a video uploaded to YouTube “clearly” showed the men committing a number of offences which included; driving without due care and attention, driving whilst not in position to have proper control and driving a vehicle with no front registration plate.
According to Surrey Police, the video depicted a car meet which took place overnight between May 25 and 26 2024 on Poyle Road and Colndale Road in Slough. In the video, Crouch and Mangion-Mackenzie were recorded ‘drifting’ in their cars alongside other driving practices which were deemed offences by police.
Crouch was given five points on his licence, a £740 fine and ordered to pay £110 in court costs and a £296 victim surcharge. Mangion-Mackenzie was also given five points on his licence, fined £550, and ordered to pay £110 in costs and £296 in victim surcharge.
