West Lothian teens, 14 and 17, charged as police swoop near play park

Two youths have been charged following an incident in a quiet West Lothian park.

Police received notice at 1.30pm on Tuesday, January 7 that an off-road bike and a quad were being ridden in Bathgate’s Balbardie Park.

According to reports, the vehicles were being ridden near the park’s play area and the Xcite sports centre.

A 17- and 14-year-old have since been charged with a number of offences following the incident.

A release from Police Scotland read: “A 17 and 14-year-old have been charged with a number of offences following an incident of an off road bike and quad being used in Balbardie Park, Bathgate.

“Around 1330 hours, today, Police received a number of reports of these bikes riding throughout the park including near to the play park and near to the Xcite sports centre.

“Both bikes have been seized and reports will be sent to the relevant authorities.”
